Ibinahagi ng Department of Justice ang opisyal nitong pahayag hinggil sa status nina former DPWH Officials Brice Ericson D. Hernandez, Jaypee D. Mendoza, Henry C. Alcantara, Roberto R. Bernardo, at mag-asawang Pacifico at Sarah Discaya sa Witness Protection Program.

Sa ipinadalang mensahe ni Justice ASec. Mico Clavano, nananatiling nasa ‘provisional acceptance’ ang mga nabanggit hinggil sa kanilang WPP.

Dito nilinaw ng kagawaran na ang status na ito ay di’ nangangahulugang laya na sila sa pananagutan kaugnay sa pagiging sangkot sa maanomalyang flood control projects.

Sila’y itinuturing na ‘protected witnesses’ at pagbibigay seguridad ang layon ng naturang asiste mula sa kagawaran.

Statement on the Witness Protection Program (WPP) Coverage of the Discayas and Certain DPWH Officials

The Department of Justice (DOJ) informs the public that DPWH Officials Brice Ericson D. Hernandez, Jaypee D. Mendoza, Henry C. Alcantara, Roberto R. Bernardo, as well as Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II and Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” C. Discaya are presently under provisional acceptance into the Witness Protection, Security and Benefit Program (WPP).

This means that, for the duration of this provisional period, they are considered Protected Witnesses for purposes of protection. At present, the assistance extended to them is limited to security and escort.

It is meant to protect them from harm, not from liability.
